• Storia:
La storia inizia nel 2001. Il primo lavoro realizzato è
“So blue”, un mini cd di tre brani scritti da elisa
(originariamente per piano e voce) ed arrangiati da ariel, con
la collaborazione di gabriele al sitar. Nel 2003 So blue ottiene
un’ottima recensione come migliore demo autoprodotto sulla
rivista inglese Sound on sound. Nel frattempo il progetto si estende
anche a gianluca, per trovare il suo assetto definitivo nell’aprile
2003 grazie all’incontro casuale con fabio (rimorchiato mentre
suonava in un locale). Dopo pochissimi mesi (3) gli Oranngecut
si esibiscono in un’ora di concerto con pezzi originali.
Attualmente il sound si è allontanato notevolmente da quello
sintetico dei primi lavori, avvicinandosi molto al rock e ad una
concezione compositiva più live, di gruppo, pur mantenendo
vivo un tentativo di fusione con l’elettronica e l’etnica
ed una ricerca profonda nel suono e nelle armonie. L’atmosfera
è a tratti sospesa, generalmente oscura. I riferimenti,
citandone una parte minima, sono gruppi come Massive Attack, Radiohead,
Gong, Portishead, (dando per scontati Beatles, Pink Floyd e Genesis).
